Almost pointless

Frequent flyer pointless that is.

I hadn't actually calculated the frequent flyer point investment in the mission, until a moment ago.

Let's just say that it was more than the 280,000 points required for a round the world business class award. Yikes.

I've mentioned JASAs previously which are business class flights under the 'any seat award' program that Qantas offer.

So a fair few flights have been booked using that method, primarily in an attempt to maintain status in the frequent flyer program. Normal award flights don't yield points or status credits whereas any seat awards do. Sometimes the JASA (J = business class) points required are only marginally more than the standard equivalents (eg 20%). Sometimes they are insanely more as in 400%.

There's a whole thriving community that's across this stuff, check out this.
